Detailed Explanation of Setting Items ​

General options are in “Settings” in the sidebar. Some display controls are in the top-right menus of the timeline, calendar and diary detail pages. The sections below explain where to find each option and what it changes.

Appearance and Language ​

In Settings → Appearance & Language, choose light, dark or system mode, change the language, or open “Font/Text Display” to import TTF/OTF fonts and adjust font size, line height and paragraph spacing.

“Theme Customization” offers preset or custom colors, background images, overlays and blur. It requires membership; eligible first-time users can choose a 24-hour preview when prompted. Theme controls are also available from the timeline, calendar, thread and Wander menus.

Function Switches ​

Diary Mood Function ​

Location: Settings → Writing & Editing.

  • Enabled: In the diary editing interface's toolbar, mood and weather icons will be displayed, allowing you to record the mood for each diary (using icons or Emoji).
  • Disabled: The mood icons in the editing interface will be hidden.

Prompt Exif Information ​

Location: Settings → Media & Content Display → Prompt Exif information when adding pictures/videos.

  • Enabled: When you select a photo or video from your album to add to a diary, if the file contains Exif metadata like GPS location and shooting time, the app will show a pop-up asking if you want to use this information to automatically set the diary's location and creation time.
  • Disabled: Hides the information-selection prompt after adding media. Reading and processing media dates and other information can still occur.

Record Location Information When Writing a Diary ​

Location: Settings → Writing & Editing.

  • Enabled: When creating a new diary, the app will automatically request and record your current geographical location. This is very useful for creating your "footprint map".
  • Disabled: The app will not actively request your current location. You can still manually add or modify the location for a diary.

Diary Writing Reminder ​

Location: Settings → Reminders & Security. Delivery also depends on system notification permissions.

  • Enabled: You can set a daily reminder time. The app will send a notification at the specified time each day to remind you to record your day.
  • Disabled: Daily reminders will not be sent.

Display Settings ​

Homepage Timeline Display ​

Location: The timeline page’s top-right menu. This option is hidden for some date styles.

  • Enabled: Shows timeline nodes and connecting lines in the entry list.
  • Disabled: Uses dividers between entries. This changes the list style; it does not change the default home page or remove the timeline page.

Latest Content at the Bottom ​

Location: The timeline page’s top-right menu.

  • Enabled: In the "Timeline" view, the newest diaries will appear at the bottom of the screen, similar to a chat application's interaction, suitable for users accustomed to browsing new content from the bottom up.
  • Disabled: The newest diaries will appear at the top of the screen, following a traditional blog or article browsing order.

Preview Displays All Text ​

Location: The timeline page’s top-right menu, alongside the comment preview option.

  • Enabled: In list views like the timeline and calendar, the full text content of each diary will be displayed completely.
  • Disabled: To keep the interface tidy, long diary entries will be automatically truncated and an "..." ellipsis will be shown.

Detail Page Images in Nine-Square Grid ​

Location: Open an entry and use the diary detail page’s top-right menu.

  • Enabled: On the diary detail page, if there are multiple images, they will be displayed in a compact nine-square grid style.
  • Disabled: Images will be displayed one after another in a single-column waterfall stream.

Display Single Images at Original Size ​

Location: Settings → Media & Content Display.

  • Enabled: If a diary contains only one image, it will be displayed at its original aspect ratio and size as much as possible, rather than being stretched to fill the screen width.
  • Disabled: Single images will also be scaled to fit the screen width.

Display Word Count ​

Location: The diary detail page’s top-right menu.

  • Enabled: Shows word counts in the diary detail and editing views.
  • Disabled: The word count will not be displayed.

Display Lunar Calendar ​

Location: The calendar page’s top-right menu. This menu also offers photo/mood calendars, a yearly view, and Monday/Sunday as the first day of the week.

  • Enabled: In the calendar view, in addition to the Gregorian date, the corresponding lunar date will also be displayed.
  • Disabled: Only the Gregorian date will be displayed.

Settings → Media & Content Display also includes:

  • Gallery picker group by date: Groups device album items by date when selecting media. This does not change the gallery of media already saved in entries.
  • Show media file name: Displays the file name in the media viewer.
  • Auto zoom long image: Enlarges a long image to the screen width for easier reading.

Editing Settings ​

Editor Toolbar Multi-line Display ​

Location: Settings → Writing & Editing → Editor toolbar custom. You can also enable or hide individual buttons and drag them to change their order.

  • Enabled: The function toolbar at the bottom of the diary editing interface will be fixed in a multi-line, fully expanded format, making all editing tools visible at a glance.
  • Disabled: The toolbar will be collapsed into a single line; you can scroll horizontally to view and use all the tools.

Data and Security ​

App Lock ​

Location: Settings → Reminders & Security → Note lock. Enabling the passcode requires membership.

  • Enabled: You can set a numeric password. Once enabled, you must enter the password every time you open the app. This is the first line of defense for protecting your privacy.
  • Disabled: No verification is required to open the app.

Face/Fingerprint ID Unlock ​

Location: Settings → Note lock. This option appears only when supported biometrics are available and configured on the device.

  • Enabled: With "App Lock" enabled, this option allows you to use your device's Face ID or Fingerprint ID to quickly unlock the app without manually entering the numeric password.
  • Disabled: Even with App Lock enabled, you can only unlock it by entering the numeric password.

Blur Page When in Background ​

Location: Settings → Note lock. Membership is required, and changes take effect after restarting the app.

  • Enabled: iOS blurs the app’s background preview. Android enables system secure-display restrictions, including screenshot restrictions.
  • Disabled: The app does not enable these privacy display measures.

Media File Compression ​

Location: Settings → Media & Content Display → Media file compression.

  • Enabled: When you add new images to a diary, the app will automatically compress them to reduce file size and save your device's storage space.
  • Disabled: Disables the app’s additional photo compression. Files supplied by the system album or format conversions can still affect the saved file.
